there is no list of open windows in the output file.
Still searching for a way to get this.

it works for Windows (tested with win7) now.

there is a shell programm - wmctrl.
after installing this programm, subprocess.getoutput("wmctrl -l").split("\n")
would give out all elements, wich are in the taskbar (working with the xserver). all the lines where the 2nd parameter wich is given out is 0, shows a window, the window title is the 4th parameter.

I had also thought of this tool, but had the hope that we could get along without foreign programs.
