I open this issue to have a place to track the progress on setting up a forum.

These issues can serve as a scrappy forum for the time being (see #2). For later, I suggest using Discourse, though I do not (yet) have any first-hand experience with it.

I would suggest Discourse, too. But I don't have much experience with it, either.

Discourse would be a nice solution, Rails is a good platform and they created a rather nice new approach. The main issue is currently setting up a PostGres SQL, but this should be possible. The Rails part should be simple. I think I will try it.

And ... this forum (and the blog #3 ) will be set up on truecrypt.ch? (And this repo is called TrueCrypt?) As far as I understand the license ( #2 ) - I am no lawyer - , using the name TrueCrypt is not permitted.

I agree with @YtvwlD
A possible solution should be something like:

  • host a repo called Truecrypt with old build unmodified, just to make them available to download (see chapter2 of licence)
  • fork the project, change name and follow with improvements-fixes etc. (see chapter 3 of licence)

I agree with @tsumi .

But even after forking, you - I think, I am no lawyer - need to include the old license, a statement, that this is built on top of TrueCrypt, and probably a diff.

But I think, relicensing the fork doesn't belong here. It belongs there: #2 .

OK: installed a new 3.14 Kernel to accomodate docker. This needs a server restart I am on the way to the data center. There will be a short downtime in an hour or two.

UPDATE: done
UPDATE2: got Discourse to run... now configuring

Will link it later tonight.
