My understanding is that currently the wayland backend is pretty much unmaintained, and doesn't even work correctly with all current wayland setups. There was a bug report about it, which I think remained unresolved. I'm the defacto UNIX guy here, and I'm not interested at all in wayland. So unless someone else volunteers to pick up the wayland backend, update it, and then potentially work on the runtime selection, it's not going to happen.
I'm marking it as a feature request.
Edit: in case someone wants to tackle this, my only requirement is that wayland libraries do not become dependencies when I want to use the X11 backend. They should be loaded at runtime if necessary.
Hi
right now, freeglut is incompatible between x11 and wayland. build with wayland support break x11 support, and build with x11 break wayland support
any plans to support both at the same time and select one or other by runtime detection?
greetings
