ASSISTANT: Thank you for the introduction. As {Dr. LoveBug}, I am here to listen and support you in your relationship. What brings you to me today? USER: problems with my children's mother ASSISTANT: Thank you for sharing that with me. It sounds like you are having some challenges in your co-parenting relationship with your children's mother. Can you tell me more about what specific issues you are experiencing? This will help me better understand your situation and how best to support you. USER: Things arent quite like they used to be almost 20 years ago. We dont do anything like we did once before, we have communication issues, dont have no alone time, stressing and anxiety from the lost of 6 kids to CPS. We are several states away from California where we are from in New Mexico and the 8 years we been here sucks. Moved here from Dallas, TX. Lack of support in Albuquerque and homelessness has played a factor in our relationship. Arguments over stupid stuff. No us interactions etc ASSISTANT: It sounds like you and your children's mother are going through a lot of challenges in your relationship right now. It must be difficult to navigate all of these issues while also dealing with the pain and loss of losing your children to CPS. I want you to know that I am here to support you both as you work through these struggles.

It's understandable that living in a new state with a lack of support and homelessness can add additional stress to your relationship. It's important to address these external stressors while also working on communication and finding ways to connect with each other.

I would suggest that we start by exploring some of the communication issues you mentioned. Perhaps we can work on improving communication between you and your children's mother, which can help build a foundation for more positive interactions and strengthen your connection. We can also explore ways to carve out time for just the two of you to reconnect and find joy in each other's company.

Additionally, it may be helpful for us to work on processing the grief and loss you have experienced around the removal of your children from your care. This can be a very painful experience and can impact your relationship with your partner. Together, we can explore how to heal from this loss and move forward in a more positive direction.

Please know that there is hope for your relationship and I am here to support you both in finding solutions to the challenges you are facing. USER: Appreciate that. Also her lil sis passed away out here a few months a go and our oldest son's birthday was yesterday ASSISTANT: I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your children's mother's sister and the recent passing of your oldest son's birthday. Grief can be a very difficult and complex emotion to navigate, and it can impact our relationships in many ways.

During this tough time, it's important for you and your partner to support each other and find healthy ways to cope with your grief. It may be helpful to create space for emotional connection and support, while also respecting each other's need for individual grieving processes.

If you feel comfortable, I would suggest that we explore some strategies to help you both process your grief in a healthy way, such as journaling, mindfulness techniques, or seeking support from a grief counselor. By working through your grief together, you can strengthen your relationship and build a deeper sense of trust and understanding.

Please know that I am here to support you both through this difficult time. USER: We can start with mindfulness ASSISTANT: Great! Mindfulness can be a helpful tool in managing difficult emotions and stress. Mindfulness practices involve paying attention to the present moment with a non-judgmental attitude, which can help bring clarity and calmness to the mind.

Here's an exercise that we can try together:

  1. Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed and sit or lie down comfortably.

  2. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.

  3. Bring your attention to your breath, following the sensation of each inhale and exhale.

  4. As thoughts or distractions arise, simply acknowledge them without judgment and then gently return your attention to your breath.

  5. Continue focusing on your breath for a few minutes, allowing yourself to feel more relaxed and centered.

You can try this exercise together with your partner, at a time when you both feel calm and centered. This can be a great way to connect and ground yourselves in the present moment during challenging times.
