Thanks for developing reuse!

The registration process could be made simpler by running $ reuse register.
Once all the server-side checks are successful the tool could print out links to the badge in asciidoc, markdown and rest formats.

You refer to https://api.reuse.software, right?

It's an interesting idea but I'd refrain from adding this into the tool, whose features shall be focussed on helping to make a project REUSE compliant, and checking its status. While the API is great, it's not a mandatory step for REUSE conformance.

To clarify: I did not mean to imply that the use of register has to be mandatory. Users might choose to run register to start the registration process at https://api.reuse.software/register from the command line for their convenience.

This would be nice, so I'll keep the issue open. But:

  • The priority of doing this is fairly low.
  • I'm wary of feature creep. Maintaining this software is time-consuming, and fewer to-be-maintained features is helpful.
