Hi everyone,

I think we need to put some money down to get this library working properly once for all. One day JQuery UI will support touch events out of the box, but until then this library will do the work.

I am calling all developers and people that use this library to open a project in any of the crowd souring websites to collect money for this library. I don't know how much money will be need it or the project lead needs.

Your thoughts?

Instead of working on this library, why not contribute to Jquery itself with touch support?

Hi @shehi,

Thank you for your comment. IMPO jQuery and jQuery UI has to change few key areas before it can have touch support of the box and this library brings the needed functionality with minimum effort while jQuery cooks. Since this library is more like a translator to the touch events your jQuery code will be ready for when jQuery has support for touch.

I think one of two things needs to happen:

  • Dave Furfero @furf needs to give control of this repro to someone who is willing to look after it, or
  • Some someone needs fork this repro.

I'm happy to chip in some funds to help this project move forward, but I would first need assurances that someone is really going to look after it.

Hi @stephen-hill,

Thank you for your comment.

In the presentation video Dave Furfero @furf mention that he is willing to give the ownership of the project to someone interested on taking over the project, so the hard part should be finding a replacement.

I am ok with the forking option if that is what it takes to make this library works.

Dear @furf

Could you please spare some time to join this discussion so that we can look at moving forward with a plan on this project's future.

Many Thanks
Stephen
