A drop-down menu for followed tags which could allow for quick-adding multiple tags to the tag field.

Tumblr offers an example:

How it could look in the web compose window:

what do you mean by "followed tags". I think there is also a featurerequest of "being able to follow tags" but requires some investigation on how the fedi does it

When you follow/subscribe to a (hash)tag (like in Mastodon, Misskey forks etc), posts which include that tag show up in your home timeline. Apps which log into your account pull up your followed hashtags and have them appear in a dropdown list of followed tags to easily tap and see the latest posts.

In Mastodon's "advanced web interface", one can also "pin" a hashtag search as a panel and then filter it by adding four more hashtags each to include as ANY, ALL or NOT.

The limit to five tags in one group, IMO, also limits Ice Cubes' "tag groups" feature when indexing Mastodon posts. I don't want to follow too many hashtags and would rather group them into tag groups, but it only indexes five tags currently.

And Misskey (and its forks) have "antennas" which allow for more groups of tags, keywords, users and remote timelines without having to directly follow any of them.
