Tonto - A poor Apache imitation
Tonto is a single-file, configuration-free HTTP server that imitates (at a very basic level) the behaviour of Apache+mod_php: when run, it serves files below the current working directory, and executes any php scripts it finds using php-cgi. It's your trusty partner for local testing.
Like Apache, it will return an index file when directories are requested, and show a basic index listing if there is no index file present.
SECURITY WARNING: DON'T USE THIS CODE UNLESS YOU ARE INSIDE A FIREWALL
-- it may execute arbitrary PHP code or external programs.
The sole dependencies are Python (the language in which it is written) and php-cgi
To ensure these are present, on Ubuntu, do:
sudo apt-get install python php-cgi
Tonto has only been tested on Linux, so it may work on OS X and will almost certainly not work on Windows.
Tonto includes a patched version of Python's CGIHTTPServer.py
