As a researcher, I want downloaders of my materials to be strongly reminded to cite them, either through pop-up reminders during download, a paragraph about citation in a use agreement, or by including a citation file with every download package.

[Moved from #156]

Upon choosing to download a resource, the user should see a screen before they can download that contains:

  • A Data Use Agreement that they must click to confirm that they read and agree to
  • A clear, copy/pasteable statement of the license
  • Clear, copy/pasteable citation options

If it's possible to work the license and citation into the download package, that is best.

As seen in Figshare, offer export of citation directly to widely used bibliographic software: EndNote, RefWorks, BibTex, RefManager, Datacite, NLM, and Dublin Core (XML).
