:) . I never had the time to implement this, but had looked at this quite a bit in the past, "in theory" there is no real difficulty and all is readily available, but unsure how much work it will be to get all working well. |
This magnetometer comes with factory calibration: https://www.st.com/en/mems-and-sensors/iis2mdc.html#documentation, I don't know if additional calibration is necessary. But if not, it might be a good alternative. |
Mmmh, the thing is I think we would still need to compensate for many additional effects in addition to the sensor characteristics itself: effect of the metal on the breakout, the surrounding wires and currents, the batteries etc. I think this means that we will need to do a calibration 'in situ' inside the instrument with everything on, as described in the cave project. |
