unable to unistall Geany 1.27, tried to uninstall through windows and through geany but get the same message.
receiving an error :

Error writing temporary file. Check to make sure temporary file is valid.

I am running win 7 - 64 bit.

I installed Geany in a folder I created called Python on the C: drive instead of the default setting.
Now it won't uninstall for some reason.
My temp folder is valid and is clean as I deleted all files in there except the files that windows uses which are mandatory before the install and uninstall attempt today. Even ran a disk cleanup before to make sure everything was ok.
What do I need to do to uninstall Geany 1.27 and then reinstall it correctly.
Thanks,
Rolo

Did you maybe install Geany as Administrator and try uninstalling it as normal user?

Even tried to uninstall in safe mode but still got the same issue. I did install Geany to be used by everyone on comp. But Admin is the normal for my comp since I only use it.

Did you try to elevate your permissions by right-clicking on the uninstaller and choosing 'Run As Administrator'? I don't think just having local admin rights keeps your permissions always elevated (unless Windows has worse security than I thought).

Just tried running as administrator, same message as before, says

Error writing temporary file. Check to make sure temporary file is valid.

Good suggestions so far folks really appreciate the help in this.

You could try running the installer again, it should ask you if you want to remove the old installation first, which may or may not work.

If it were me, and that didn't work, I'd just delete the Geany folder, remove it from the add/remove programs in control panel (it should give an error and ask if you want to remove it from the add/remove programs list), and then install it again in the new location. It should re-use the same registry keys and stuff, so you shouldn't get duplicate Windows Explorer - Open with Geany menus or anything.

Either this way or if you like to find the root cause on http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/error-writing-to-temporary-fileplease-make-sure/32177e33-9b6d-4a93-b078-1dba32cadd89?page=2 are a couple of different suggestions. Though not sure how good and relevant these tips are.

ok reinstalled and did the Memory Diagnostics which found nothing.
But,... Geany gave the same response as before so I am going to go with it as it is now and consider this case closed till further notice. Will use Geany as it is and see how it works.
Thanks for all your awesome support in this issue !!!
