When stepping through Messages pane, no easy way to see progress.

I frequently do a search for some text and then use a hotkey to step through all the search results, making a change to each instance. I'd like to be able to see how close I am to finishing by looking at the messages pane, but I don't see any easy way to do that. There's a scrollbar, but it only seems to appear when the mouse is hovered over the pane.

Never mind, I guess the scrollbar reappears when I press the "next item" hotkey. I swear I tried that before I filed this issue, but I don't expect anyone to believe me, since I don't really believe myself. : )

Though it does seem a bit inconsistent. And I guess the scrollbar doesn't even try to reappear when the end of the list is visible?
