Genomu

A concurrency-oriented K/V database

Motivation

At the time of writing, http://nosql-database.org featured 150 databases. No lack of options! However, the Event Sourcing category barely has any entries. Genomu, being at the intersection of this and Key Value / Tuple store categories, increases the number of options available in that niche.

In all seriousness, the motivation to create this new database was to:

  • address the complexity of concurrent updates and conflicts
  • simplify creation of "real-time web" applications
  • enable highly available write operations in presence of failures

Installation

In order to build and fire up Genomu, you'll need a couple of things:

To build, simply run make. Hopefully, this will end successfully and you can fire up a test cluster using make start. That will start three nodes (their configs can be found in the ./test directory). Make sure to check out its web console at http://localhost:9119, you'll see something like this:
