This is a CLI for generating URLs for sharing content on social media. If you need to add social media sharing links to your website, you can easily generate them though this simple command line tool. Currently supports:
If you have a piece of content that you want to allow users of your website to share on social media, e.g. https://towardsdatascience.com/hidden-features-of-chrome-devtools-33d9de390dc0
Run
$ npm install -g generate-social-sharing-link
- Select a social media platform
- Enter the URL of content you want to share
- Enter any supporting text (only Twitter supports this currently)
In order to generate the Facebook link, you will need to create and set a Facebook App ID. to do this, follow these steps:
Go to https://developers.facebook.com/apps/
and click Create App
. Once you've created it, copy the App ID.
In the command line run the following command, but replacing 12345
with the copied app ID.
export FACEBOOK_APP_ID=12345
set FACEBOOK_APP_ID=12345
Please note that this may not persist in your work space.
Test by generateing the Facebook link and looking for the app ID in the URL.
