Currently breaking up a GCHP simulation in time is cumbersome due to the configuration file updates needed to change start date and restart file. We have the "multi-run" scripts as examples on how to submit consecutive jobs but it involves a lot of manipulation of config files from the run script. This could be improved upon, and now is the time to do this since 14.0 includes fixes to eliminate differences introduced when breaking up GCHP runs.
I put together a working prototype that will accomplish the goal of simplifying breaking up GCHP runs in time. See geoschem/geos-chem#1259.
