DNS64 design assumes that the DNS resolver knows the IPv6 prefix used for IPv4 mapped addresses. RFC 7050 presents a way to automatically configure that prefix. Private DNS provides a resolver that is independent from the local infrastructure. This could easily result in poorly configured NAT64 configurations. We need to understand the risks and mitigations.
