The problem with tools like ccleaner often is that unexperienced users use it without knowledge of how it works and why certain files are selected and deleted.

Suggestions:

  • State that the list only contains app data of uninstalled apps. / That it does not list data of currently installed apps.
  • Explain that reinstalling an app would mean that the data can be used again (if not deleted)
  • Maybe mention the underlying command or method

Hm. For the first suggestion, the first line of the app metadata - the bit where the user will see when they press on Flatsweep on their app store - does mention that Flatsweep is an app that will clean leftovers of uninstalled apps. So I don't think there must be a separate warning in the app itself.

The second suggestion, I think is good. But still, I don't think it must be placed within the app itself. It could be on the storefront metadata.

For the third suggestion, I disagree. I think that would make things more confusing for the end user. Flatsweep mainly targets more novice users anyways, and I don't think showing the user the specific methodology the app uses would add much value.

I am also pretty hesitant to add more text to the app mainly because all of the user submitted translations would be broken. For example if you were using the app in Spanish, there would suddenly be some English included in between, before people submitted the missing pieces. Thus, the text I would end up adding to Flatsweep I think must add significant value to the app, for example adding a new feature. Y'know?

Thanks for the suggestions overall!

I could rewrite a new translation in case the maintainer feels is a good idea to change the text in the app.
