This issue appears to be related to Issue #1 where
all words with multi-character symbols seem to be at issue.

On MacOS 13.5.1, TextEdit Spelling and Grammar does not accept ‹sčətxʷəd›, but it suggests ‹sčətxʷəd› in the same spelling.
