Hi, I found this project through your comment here. I wanted to put my thoughts, but the question is locked for new replies, so creating an issue here for anyone else who stumbles across.

I disagree with your comment about people complaining because an easy solution already exists.

  • Well, for one, this project is really an email sender, not a calendar notifier. Some people don't want their inbox flooded with events just for notifications. A google calendar notification is much more cleaner, in the sense in it's ephemeral behavior.
  • Secondly, it's really not consumer friendly, cannot expect a layman gcal user to use someone's 2000 liner script with a lot of permissions over their account. Yes it's open source, but open source is as useless to a layman google customer as a ballpoint pen in space. I think it's a fair expectation for Google's customers to have a friendlier solution

It's a great project though, I'm sure it's been helpful to many over the time. Thanks. Feel free to close this issue.

If you don't like it, don't use it ! I personally find huge value in having these events be reminded directly in my email inbox. But if I didn't, I just wouldn't look for an email notification script of calendar events !
