G-code is already a supported language, so the .nc extension could be added to it. See https://github.com/github/linguist/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#adding-an-extension-to-a-language

I apologize, but I was too hasty to make this issue.

Indeed it can be added as an extension, but I found it more effective for my project to ignore them instead.
