I'm too on Linux Mint 18 and I've opened a pull request #43 with a hotfix.
The problem is that the current script tries to infer your OS instead of your terminal.

I've changed that.

I made a pull request on #43 to use the terminal being used instead of the OS.
Try again and update this issue status.

I had the same issue with Linux Mint 18 until I installed dconf-cli :
sudo apt-get install dconf-cli
After that everything works as expected.
