Name of the Codelab or Codelab URL
https://developer.android.com/codelabs/kotlin-android-training-lifecycles-logging?continue=https%3A%2F%2Fdeveloper.android.com%2Fcourses%2Fpathways%2Fandroid-development-with-kotlin-7%23codelab-https%3A%2F%2Fdeveloper.android.com%2Fcodelabs%2Fkotlin-android-training-lifecycles-logging#3

Describe the problem
A clear and concise description of what the problem is.
There are lots of issues related to versions and confusing messages about versions. "Upgrade this" but then the project stops working. There needs to be better version controls or maybe these demos should be simplified or reccommended to use the old versions that are compatible, The last 2 or so example projects have had all kinds of version issues, and we aren't getting any training on resolving version problems.

In which lesson and step of the codelab can this issue be found?
Lesson number + step number.
4 "USe Timber For Logging"

My comments are more general frustration than a specific problem with the training. I spend half the day combatting version mismatches versus doing the demos.

How to reproduce?
What are the exact steps to reproduce the problem?

Versions

  1. What version of Android Studio are you using?
  2. What API level are you targeting?
