Building for iOS - Apple Mach-O Linker (ld) Error Group #552

While building my project in XCode after building my project from Unity 5.6 I am presented with the error:

Apple Mach-O Linker (ld) Error Group
: Linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)

I am currently running Google VR SDK 1.40

This only happens when I have virtual reality enabled in unity. I do not have this issue with Android.

Steps to recreate:

  1. Enable VR support in build settings for iOS
  2. Open project in XCode
  3. Compile project

If I remove VR support the project builds and runs fine on all tested devices (iPad, iPod, iPhone). Of course without any VR support.

I did find this thread after posting this on the Unity issue tracker mentioning this issue. https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/ios-cardboard-linker-error-when-googlevr-package-is-in-the-project

I have not tried upgrading to the 2017 beta yet.

I found this issue:
#539

Seems the pods issue is non-obvious for me as a non-experienced XCode developer. This did resolve my error.
