Write a post about the reading plan I'm embarked on, and the way I'm seeing it now with nested genres.

Sent in email (August 16, 2022):

three already completed (italics), and six more I think I'll prioritize next (bold)
century - title, author


Of course, there are different answers to the question and much of it depends on what you're trying to gain. Doctrine? Ethics? Morals? Apologetics? There are so many directions to go with it.

Off the top of my head, I would add

  • The Life of Macrina (Gregory of Nyssa)
  • On the Unity of the Church (Cyprian of Carthage)
  • Conferences (selected sections) (John Cassian)

  • Augustine, City of God
  • Irenaeus Demonstration of Apostolic Teaching
  • Nyssa, Life of Moses
  • Chrysostom, Homilies on Biblical books (yup, a lot, I know!)
  • Cassian, Conferences.
