sync with own or company hosted sync server #26
Comments
I could build this, but I'm not sure if there is that much demand for it. I would generally like to implement other features first. The whole sync setup is pretty secure anyway, your data is always encrypted before it leaves your devices. Technically you only need to replace a few url's: the authentication service url and the token service url |
Thanks for the quick response and technical information. There are over 20000 downloads of the owncloud app "Mozilla Sync" (https://apps.owncloud.com/content/show.php/Mozilla+Sync?content=161793) so there are quite a lot people using their owncloud servers to sync their firefox data. Would be great to sync them also on iPhone with your Foxbrowser. |
While that might be true, I'm pretty sure thus owncloud app won't work with the current sync anyway. Foxbrowser & Firefox use a new sync protocol now. |
Owncloud 8 + Mozilla Sync 1.4 + Firefox 35+ |
I also would like to see that as there's currently no other way to sync your bookmarks to an iOS device using your own server that I could find. While the Owncloud Firefox still use the old sync method, there's a way to set up your own new Mozilla syncserver. |
Hello Simon,
would be great to sync foxbrowser also with own or company hosted sync servers.
From my point of view "only" the settings for a custom server have to be specified. So the settings page needs to be extended (e.g. advanced settings) to set these parameters by the user.
What do you think? Is it possible to implement this feature?
kindly regards,
Sebastian
