kiosk=tv mode hides the dashboard submenu

Hi, I was expecting the kiosk=tv mode to only hide the sidemenu/sidebar. When using the kiosk=tv mode the content of Dashboard submenu is also disappearing.

full = No TOPNAV and No SIDEBAR
tv = No SIDEBAR

how are you launching the kiosk? via config file or arguments, or environment variables?

when the command runs, a summary is shown for all of the settings, does it say "Mode: tv" or "full"?

i'm able to run in tv mode and the top navigation remains (the top menu that displays the grafana icon and name of the dashboard, time interval)

Issue presents itself regardless of platform its running on. I can reproduce it by using the the kiosk=tv parameter.

notice the template variables and the dashboard links (Dashboard submenu section) disappear.

Normal mode:
The side menu remains visible.
The navbar, row and panel controls appear at the top of the screen

(Note that we can see 5 things: Dashboard title, the side menu, panel control (per panel), variable pulldown list (per panel), nav bar.)

 
TV mode:
The side menu is hidden/removed.
The navbar, row and panel controls appear at the top of the screen.

(Here we see 3 things: same as above but with side menu bar missing and variable pulldowns (per panel) missing.)

 
This issue is the missing variable pulldown list - bug or as designed?

That's "as designed" but i know there is discussion about changing this behavior. Currently kiosk modes hide template variables.

I really think they should be shown, or at least have an option to display them in read-only mode (don't allow them to be modified), and retain the current behavior for backwards compatibility.
