Problem with showing data using country codes

While I have been able to get the geohash options to work, unfortunately not all of my Elastic Search indexes have geohash information. I do have 3-letter country codes, but these don't seem to work in the WorldMap panel.

Repro of the issue is simple: Just set up the panel according to the instructions in this project, choosing the 3-letter country code option.

Result: No data points.

I've attached the output from Grafana's query inspector (with a very pared-down query of just top 3 countries). Additional information available upon request.
