Currently if a non iterable object is passed to g.render(..), the method does not attempt to render a template for that object. I propose that it should and it should be changed for 1.2 with an upgrade note in the docs about this breaking change.
Given that it does look for templates when the argument is an Iterable, I think this change leads to more consistent behavior
