What's new in v1.1

  • Fixed compatibility with BTW version "4.AACK".

  • Fixed harvest cracks still not showing on wall signs.

  • Fixed Glass Block not properly supporting falling blocks.

  • Fixed ladders placement while standing in the same block. This was broken since BTW 4.A8.

  • Changed lily pads so they can be placed in one block deep water.

  • Changed CraftGuide recipes for baiting and bow disassembly to ignore durability.

  • Changed Mycelium to also spread to loose dirt.

  • Changed chisels to be effective on sandstone.

  • Added a stoked crucible recipe to turn mossy cobble to regular cobblestone.

  • Fixed minecart with chest being uncraftable since BTW 4.AABABABA.

  • Added ability to repair armor by crafting a wool, padding, leather, or tanned leather armor piece together with material used to craft it.

  • Added CraftGuide recipes for torch merging and armor repair.

  • Changed bed recipe for BTW 4.AABBBbbb+ to require 6 knit wool and 3 wooden slabs to make it more relevant in early game.

  • Added new crosshair to indicate when it's possible to ignite the held item with the block you're pointing at and vice-versa. Also added another three placeholder crosshairs for possible future use. This might be of interest to texture pack creators: don't leave these spots blank.

  • Fixed resource loading in accordance with the path new Minecraft Launcher provides, as well as the new download location. This fixes the problem of missing sound and music.

  • Fixed skin loading by replacing the old download location with the use of proper Mojang API. The skin files are now saved in "skins" directory, and capes are saved in "capes" directory. Skins are loaded once per program launch. If the saved skin is 1 hour old or less (or marked as read-only), it won't be loaded from the web service.

What's new in v1.0

  • Fixed compatibility with BTW version "4.AABBBbbb".

  • Fixed furnace patch that made it retain some heat while without fuel and
reset cooking when the item is switched. Now also works for brick ovens.

  • Fixed render patch for harvesting cracks on chests, ender chests, wall
signs, beds, beacons and cocoa beans. This was missing since BTW 4.A9.

  • If CraftGuide is found in the minecraft.jar, it will be patched to show
BTW recipes again in BTW 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH and later.

  • Added integration with CraftGuide, which means recipes involving chopping,
baiting, knitting, piston packing and villager trading will be displayed.

  • Furthermore fixed CraftGuide recipes, no more outdated info, revamped
saw recipes and adjusted hopper, turntable, kiln recipes.

  • Added F9 key to increase system brightness up to three times; F10 to reset.

  • Added an ability to combine burning crude torches in crafting.

  • Removed very rare zombie spawn with axes for BTW 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH and up.

  • Removed compass-specific render from the item frame for compatibility with
BTW 4.AAABBBA and up. This makes compass inactive when inside the frame.

  • Changed chests in BTW 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH and up to be harvestable again,
when using an iron axe or better.

  • Allowed crafting regular furnaces again for BTW 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH and up,
    with netherrack surrounded by stone.

  • Adjusted written book recipes for BTW 4.AABABABA and up.

  • Adjusted sand yield from milling sandstone for BTW 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH and up.

  • Added a millstone recipe to turn zombie and pigmen heads to rotten flesh.

  • Changed mob spawner to also convert loose cobblestone into moss stone.

  • Changed stone to drop without changing strata when harvested with a chisel.
Darker stone still acts like regular stone in crafting.

  • Added soulforged steel chisel to help harvesting stone at lowest strata.

  • Added adaptive crosshair to indicate whether current block is harvestable
with current tool, or partially/more efficient with current tool, and to
indicate proper weapon ready to hit the enemy, and viable fishing spots.

  • For BTW 4.AABBBbbb and up, changed nitre block to be crafted only with
piston packing to be consistent with flesh and bones in that version.

BTWTweak v0.9m for Better Than Wolves

Compare
Choose a tag to compare

What's new in v0.9m

  • Fixed compatibility with BTW version "4.A7 Squid A Swimming".
  • Patcher now reports BTWTweak version at startup and patching.
  • Fixed occasional severe hunger loss while climbing ladders and ropes as sometimes server thought it was continuous jumping.
For BTW versions before 4.A7 Squid A Swimming:
Coincidentally, fixed sprint-jumping not exhausting player more than regular jumping, which made bunny hopping more efficient on food than simply sprinting. The hopping tactic to quickly and safely traverse the
desert is much more costly now.
  • Skipped boat fall damage fix as it is now implemented in BTW.
Previous versions of BTW still get the fix.
  • Skipped pet growing up teleportation fix as it is now implemented in BTW.
Previous versions of BTW still get the fix.
  • Made it so ladder prefers to be placed in the same orientation as a piece above it or below, when aiming at a side that cannot support ladder.
  • Added smoothstone stairs to microblock merging.
  • Made carved pumpkins fall just like the regular ones and Jack-o-lanterns, and also Jack-o-lanterns to extinguish when facing water.
  • Made it possible to hook items and non-damageable entities with a fishing hook. This should make fishing rods more interesting and useful.

How to install

BTWTweak v0.9l for Better Than Wolves

Compare
Choose a tag to compare

What's new in v0.9l

  • Fixed extraneous attempts to integrate with Deco addon.
  • Changed creepers to stop hissing sounds when sheared or killed. It was strange hearing the hiss after there is nothing to hiss (with).
  • Fixed not all stumps being hard enough.
  • Fixed compatibility with BTW version "4.A3 Headed Beastie" and "4.A4 Kiloblock Boon".
Unfortunately, due to ID clash, old BTWTweak spider heads will turn into infused skulls. Get rid of spider heads before upgrading to avoid this.
• Fixed Minecraft crash when loading an unknown language. It is usually caused by sharing options.txt with a newer Minecraft version
(option "lang" is lowercase "en_us" instead of "en_US").
  • Fixed iron pickaxes being too effective on dark stone.
  • Fixed wolves/cats teleporting to player as they grow up while sitting, for real now (MC-28440).
  • Adjusted microblock merging so it won't happen while facing the saw.
  • Added bark note to the note block that stands on top of a companion cube.
Now it is possible to recreate Dogsong in Minecraft.
  • Changed scoreboard sidebar to be shown only when player list key is held (default Tab).
  • Fixed certain duping methods by removing zero-stack glitch items.
  • Changed rails and iron bars to smelt by one.
  • Changed stump remover to stack to 64.
  • Added some more blocks and items to creative tabs.
  • Restored the effect of swiftness potion. Apparently it is possible to build a witch farm in a specific way to gather swiftness potions, and the motivation to do so was killed by removing the effect.
  • Renamed vertical wind mill to "Vertical Wind Mill" from just "Wind Mill".
  • Turned off generation of debug textures ("debug.stitched_*.png") on game startup. It was slowing the startup for no good reason. If you wish to reenable this, put the following line in BTWTweak.cfg:
    writeDebugTextures=1
  • Now it is possible to rename chests, furnaces, dispensers, brewing stands with Shift+right-clicking them with a name tag. Also it is possible to edit sign posts by right-clicking them with Ink and Quill.
  • Fixed configurable Hardcore Spawn radius so that increasing it will push populated villages and similar structures away accordingly. Decreasing it, however, won't bring them closer.
  • Fixed newly generated single chests not having collision box set. Chests that already exist in the world won't be affected, though.
  • Made thrown rocks destroy vases. While at it, added chain explosions for vases with blasting oil. How was this not a feature yet?!
  • Changed egg hatching sound at incubator to something more appropriate.
  • Disabled GUI auto-closing when inside portal. Looks like it served no other purpose than to annoy people and help trap them inside the portal.
  • Added an ability to take all items from a container GUI by pressing Space (jump key). This will only take items from simple and non-crafting slots.

How to install

  • Create a new folder
  • Put BTWTweak.jar in it
  • Put minecraft.jar (or minecraft_server.jar) with BTW and mods (MCPatcher, Deco, CraftGuide, etc.) already installed in it

Windows users: if double-clicking doesn't work for you:

  • uncheck WinRAR file association for .jar extension, and/or reinstall Java

Particular things to note

  • Before upgrading from older version of BTWTweak, make sure you don't have any spider heads in your world, as they will turn into infused skulls due to ID clash.
  • Before installing, make sure your cauldrons and crucibles don't contain more than 9 items, as this mod reduces their inventory to 9 slots and the rest will disappear.

BTWTweak v0.9j for Better Than Wolves

23 Dec 07:53
Compare
Choose a tag to compare

Note: this version has a problem when patching in Java 8, use v0.9k instead!

What's new in v0.9j

  • Removed BTWTweak stumps as they are now implemented in BTW.
  • Removed termites from mineshafts, logs are now whole again. This change
is due to the way stumps are implemented in BTW.
  • Added stump textures for non-oak wood types.
  • Changed pistons to melt down to 2 gold nuggets and 6 iron nuggets to be
    consistent with reduction in BTW.
  • Allowed normal difficulty for hardcore (permadeath) mode.
  • Allowed easy difficulty to be selected only in the main menu. It is now
called "wimpy". Resets to normal after restarting the game.
  • Extended maximum chat line length to 256 characters.
  • Added BTWTweak version to the announcement message when connecting.
You don't want to use BTWTweak on non-BTWTweak servers and vice-versa.
  • When disconnecting, the player entity is removed only after 60 ticks
(3 seconds). This prevents exploiting initial invulnerability by
repeatedly disconnecting and connecting in dangerous situations.
Make sure to disconnect only when safe from now on.
  • Changed dynamite to be lit with hold and thrown with release of a button.
This makes throwing dynamite more precise and much more fun!
This feature is dedicated to the good old Blood 3D game.
  • Dropped support for the old Deco addon.
  • Added support for the new Deco addon, if glass shards are found, they
will drop upon the destruction of glass blocks. Similarly, Deco stained
glass is breakable like usual glass, both by rocks and by falling upon.
  • Fix Deco error with losing written map item buoyancy and blow distance.
  • Changed achievements around a bit to be technically possible in BTW.
Ideally they need an overhaul but that's some future task.
  • Made it so that sneaking would prevent falling from a rope.
  • Added an ability to jump out of vehicles such as boats and minecarts
without silly and unpredictable teleportation. This also could lead to
interesting contraptions with jumping out of a speeding minecart.
  • Fixed small visual error: main menu buttons covering the long BTW version
    string.
  • Backported ability for buttons to be placed on the top and bottom of the
block. Unlike new versions of Minecraft, such buttons are symmetric. Also,
the buttons are now placeable on any flat surface, not just full blocks.
  • Added an ability to attach torches, buttons, etc. on backsides of stairs.
  • Fixed (prevented) wolf cubs teleporting to player as they grow up even
    while sitting.
  • Fixed an exploit with players escaping through the roof of Nether.
  • Attempt to fix stuck glitched ghost fireballs.
  • Fixed and adjusted what blocks are displayed on creative tabs.
  • Added ability to add new tweak scripts without recompiling BTWTweak.
  • Added ability to merge microblocks by placing them together with the others
    in the following ways:
    • corner + corner = moulding,
    • moulding + moulding = siding,
    • siding + moulding = stairs,
    • stairs + moulding = full block,
    • siding + siding = full block,
    • moulding + siding = stairs.
  • Improved microblock preview to take account for the above change,
and display correctly when looking at a side of a snow cover.
  • Added very rare zombie spawn with axes. Beware, they wreck obstacles much
    faster than regular zombies!
  • Fixed middle-click block picking for wooden microblocks.
  • Fixed swords breaking blocks in creative like in new versions of Minecraft.
