Install fails on macos

In addition, after that is fixed by using ginstall, on macos 12 (monterey), I get

ginstall: invalid group ‘root’

And using group root has been in the script since inception at 72ca826#diff-1e142e6277b12b7e1110478a24caee8f006a9349e86970c890203d6266209463R56

I dont know if group root existing in previous macos versions; it is possible.

In order to get this installing on recent macos, a different approach is needed for setting the perms of the installed file on macos.

Note even following something like https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204012 , which is probably not advised, that still doesnt create a group called root.

brew installs into /usr/local, and the files have perms "logged_in_username:admin", so this script should probably do the same. Some directories in /usr/local are "root:wheel" - it seems that happens for non-brew based installations.
