Broken links from old dist perhaps need a redirect at least

While I understand the desire to break ties with old and unsupported plugins and themes, might I humbly suggest two things.

First, since there are currently hundreds of links out there leading to the old /dist/plugins and /dist/themes, perhaps there should be a redirect implemented so that they all go to the addons catalog. Currently all you get is a 403.

Second, might I request that a new, less accessible, folder be established to house the archival plugins from the /dist/plugins so that they can be located when required for upgrading purposes. ie: archival/plugins

This would perhaps maintain some sense of appreciation for past efforts and could even be a starting point for bringing an old plugin back to life if needed. I imagine themes would not be as easily updated but if the directory was not promoted it should not conflict with current objectives to only publicly present the latest and greatest.
