Data for 2015 for the whole state of Oregon is now in S3. I don't know what the next steps are on the data science end but I'll be happy to help on them.

Last year we just put the raw data into a database and built an API, which we never used. I'd like to avoid that this year.

For story card inspirations, see the OnTheMap site https://onthemap.ces.census.gov/

  • Download data and upload to S3
  • Download TIGER/Line shapefiles and upload to S3
  • Write scripts to upload data to Amazon RDS instance. Last year I did this with R and I don't see any reason not to refactor that code for this year.
  • Document metadata

This is a duplicate of hackoregon/2019-transportation-systems-backend#20 - I'll be merging the issues, probably into the data science repo.
