The release includes the following new features:

  1. IEEE 802.11ay-compliant MAC and abstracted PHY layer implementation.
  2. Advanced beamforming techniques (EDMG BRP PPDU and short SSW frame).
  3. SU-MIMO beamforming training and channel access procedure for data transmission.
  4. MU-MIMO beamforming training procedure.
  5. Channel bonding up to four channels.
  6. Channel transmit masks for all channel configurations in IEEE 802.11ay.
  7. MIMO ray-tracing channel interface.
  8. Re-based the current implementation to ns-3.31.

We added a list of new functionalities to our IEEE 802.11ad implementation in ns-3.

  1. Beamforming Codebook design for beamforming training and beam steering.
  2. Quasi-deterministic channel model to simulate real propagation environments.
  3. Codebook Generator application in MATLAB to generate codebook samples similar to ones used in Qualcomm QCA9500 Chipset.
  4. Multi-antenna beamforming training.
  5. Accurate BER vs. SNR lookup tables for all PHY layers.
  6. Beam refinement for both transmit and receive beam patterns.
  7. Multi-AP support without the need for decentralized clustering.

We just got a new paper accepted in the workshop of ns-3 WN3-2017 about extending the functionalities of the 802.11ad model. The new functionalities include:

  1. Half Duplex DMG Relay Support.
  2. Dynamic Channel Allocation (Polling).
  3. Service Period Allocation.
  4. Beamformed Link Maintenance.
  5. Decentralized Clustering.
  6. Spatial Sharing.

This new release of 802.11ad model includes some enhancements and bug fixes for the operation of the model.
The following list summarizes the fixes:

  1. Robust Service Period (SP) Implementation.
  2. Enhance Relay Operation and support multiple and customized relay relay selection for different service periods.
  3. Support Implicit link switching for relay operation.
  4. Allow multiple SPs and CBAPs period in one DTI period.
  5. Fixed bugs related to two level aggregation.
