I find myself typing the same description, identical or with minor variations, for the common points of interest that I care about and their tags/details to be later upstreamed to OSM. I am using the clipboard, which holds one description and has been overwritten between two executions of the app. If a specialized mechanism is not considered too much for this simple app, what about a couple buttons to auto-fill the text field, or a setting to auto-expand abbreviations?

(Uhm, I am wondering whether the copy-paste issue #53 can be seen as a special case, like a button that "persists" to the clipboard, rather than the app storage.)
So you think of a simple template text the user can define and when pressing a button this text fill be filled into the input text-box of the note view? Sounds like this only relates to #53, I don't know if one issue is the special/general case of the other.
When looking on the note view, there's very little space left, so probably a popup-window listing all available templates will be needed. There also needs to be a management activity for all the templates as well as a database table for them, so this whole ticket is rather medium-large.
However it sounds like a good idea to have template strings (I also often write simlar/equal notes but I use abbreviations like "b" for "bench" so that things don't become annoying :D ), but currently there are other tickets being processed.
