Django admin stores empty strings instead of NULLs

When adding or editing models in the admin, Django stores empty strings instead of NULLs. This is unexpected behavior by Heroku Connect and can cause problems, particularly considering sfid is both assigned by Heroku Connect (not the admin user) and has a unique constraint.
