As the maintainer of Swig said: Swig is no longer maintained,

is it now the right time to switch to Nunjucks, which is a better alternative and successor of swig.

I agree. The fact that there is no documentation for SWIG makes it difficult. NUNJUCKS is also better, and comming from LIQUID it would be perfect. Thumbs up for this!
