sometimes when matching names/category labels get reused because they are the closest match for multiple of the messy categories. In a lot of cases (especially abbreviations to full name like my example) this doesn't make sense because they are supposed to be unique identifiers.

I think it would be useful to add an argument that tells the function to use every item in the clean input once with the messy item that is closest.
