I realize Tom and others have worked very hard on Jekyll, and that this isn't your product, but I wanted to hear your opinion on the matter. The project is arguably falling behind as far as maintenance goes. Seeing how it's such a big part of Github/Pages, do you think Tom would hand it as a product from Github to be regularly maintained and improved, or that an official fork would be created?

We'll likely be hiring someone to work more on Gollum and Jekyll, but that likely won't include a lot of feature additions and things of that nature. We favor stability, and we can't include every little pull request that comes by. It's likely a better solution to fork Jekyll if you want better responsiveness in the community for extensions, etc.
