It seems like an issue with Google Assistant more than homeassistant. I have my zwave lock exposed to Google Assistant, I have a pin setup and it used to work fine. Now when I ask Google to unlock the front door, it asks for the pin and then states "I'm not sure how to do that". I've unlinked and relinked Google Assistant, synced my devices etc. Still not working.

Just to add, I have a nest hub. When I ask it to unlock it brings up a screen to enter the pin. If I speak the pin it fails but if I key in the pin on the screen it works. My guess is that they are now blocking the action if the pin is spoken for security?

This sounds like an issue with Google, since unlocking works if entered via the screen.

Try making sure your Home Assistant core, OS, and supervisor are up to date.

Also, checking synced entities to Google and then manually syncing again via the Home Assistant Google Assistant manager section.

I had an issue for 2 days where Google would say the same thing about my garage door.

Then, suddenly it started working again but I noticed that Google Assistant now asked me for my "security code" instead of my PIN code that it used in the request in the past. I think Google updated how it interacts with secure devices and even changed the exact verbal request it would say when asking for the code.

@macleodit am all up to date, using the manual configuration not nabu casa, tried syncing, removing, readding....still no dice....
I saw one other complaint on Google assistant forums from someone not using homeassistant...guess I'll give it some time and wait for Google to fix... Given that locking works and unlocking works if I key in the pin on the screen, my guess is something in the spoken pin is causing the issue in googles end.

All of a sudden today it asked for a security code instead of pin and it works again!

I'm having the same exact issue as described above, been working on it in the forums for a while now.

I've tried every combination of pin code, my Zwave lock and my Chamberland gates will only open when I type the pin on the Nest Hub or with HA, but not by verbally speaking the pin to Google.
