Home Assistant release with the issue:
First noticed in 0.84.6, but reverting to 84.5 shows same problem

Last working Home Assistant release (if known):
Not sure

Operating environment (Hass.io/Docker/Windows/etc.):
Ubuntu
Python virtual env
Firefox v64.0

Component/platform:
frontend/groups

Description of problem:
Configuration of groups seems to ignore the control: parameter when set to hidden - the toggle switch at the top of the card shows even when control: hidden is configured.

My group cards have not been changed for many months.

Problem-relevant configuration.yaml entries and (fill out even if it seems unimportant):

modes:
  name: "Modes"
  control: hidden
  entities:
  - input_boolean.inp_bool_overnight_guest_mode
  - input_boolean.inp_bool_extended_absence_mode

Traceback (if applicable):

Additional information:

This problem apparently only manifests when using Firefox. Chrome and Edge work fine.

This issue was moved by cgarwood from home-assistant/home-assistant#19508.

If you're trying the lovelace interface, that might be your issue. Lovelace seems to ignore the control: hidden in the groups config and doesn't automatically convert it to "show_header_toggle".

Not using Lovelace. Just the same standard interface I've been using since the beginning.

Same issue on 0.85.0 (hassio) with Safari and Chrome

Turns out I must have accidentally enabled Lovelace from the bottom of the info screen without knowing it. Changed it back and now everything is back to my normal.
