My suggestion here is to deprecate the pre-rendering task (phantomjs is deprecated), and kick that functionality to other community projects. Currently pre-rendering only works if you are using boot anyway.

I have a WIP for chrome puppeteer: https://github.com/degree9/boot-puppeteer

Although documenting this process would still be a good idea, i'll open a wiki page:
