While I was waiting for your reply i started working on the network with the real data from the D'Alembert dataset to work on the filters and layouts.
This network data have two main problems that makes the mockup design pretty hard:
1 - Inconsistency in the "occupation" column. Now there are 172 values for 592 nodes (213 are unknown) and most of them are really inconsisten (e.g. "litterateur" VS "littérateur published moral and critical essays". Is it the same occupation or two different ones?). Is there anybody working on that?
2- The network is basically a egonetwork. If I remove D'Alembert from the network the other nodes are not connected to each other. Is it ok for you to work on this kind of network for the mockups?

  1. Glauco has a combined data set with Voltaire's correspondents and D'Alembert's. This should be better than the ego network. We'll miss a lot of functionality iwth just an ego network.
  2. Any attribute values are going to be problematic. Part of the function of this tool is to help us explore existing taxonomies (however bad) and use them to come up with new ones. The "fixing" happens by using KNOT.

Are you sure that Knot is the right tool to fix existing (bad) taxonomies? I agree when we talk about small changes or annotation on the nodes on the canvas but operation like creation of new taxonomies or mass modifications can be done in a easier and more accurate way outside Knot. It's important to define exactly what the user can do in terms of data modification cause it change a lot the nature of the architecture, that is already rich of functions.
Where I can find the combined data set?

Please contact Glauco for the data. It should be available in Github.
