Hyprland freezes after a random amount of time (mouse frozen aswell)

Description

Hyprland freezes after a while of use could be like 1 minute to 6 hours, I think it's related to NVIDIA? The reason why I think this is because of the fact if I'm watching netflix and screensharing on discord it will freeze for a moment and then unfreeze.

Freezing meaning: My whole computer freezes no input and audio is still playing

How to reproduce

I would have no clue how to reproduce this because it's just simply random it seems but it might be related to #2742

What version of nvidia are you using? I was using open driver and now that I'm not it doesn't crash anymore

Using dkms, with Nvidia patch.
Was crashing on regular proprietary without the patch as well

Which GPU do you have? personally GTX 1060

Same for me, using an rtx 3060TI
It seems a bit different than #2742 because i can't even move cursor
Everything on screen freezes, sound is still playing though

I was on hyprland-nvidia (AUR) with nvidia-open-dkms drivers
I will try hyprland-nvidia-git to see if it fixes the issue

still OP didn't report the mouse thing so you might want to open a separate issue

The mouse won't move at all when frozen yeah

I switched to latest git version yesterday, and haven't noticed any freeze since, but I have only used the computer for like 3 hours today so it might not be representative

Didn't happen to me since my last message.
I'm pretty sure it was some kind of OOM and it may not be related to hyprland.

I was playing a lot of modded minecraft at the time and I eventually noticed that after closing the game window, the java process stayed here, taking ~12go of ram. I believe the freeze happened when I :

• played mc for a couple hours
• then closed the game
• and then started a memory consuming process later

This kind of checks out as it didn't happen a single time since I stopped playing.

I updated my nvidia drivers and it went away, but maybe an update to hyprland fixed it too? I don't really know but it's fixed for me now.

I'm using an AMD Laptop and having this problem also.
