The current test harness doesn't cover much of the possible code paths, which would be too dangerous to test on bare metal anyways.

We should add a way to test those paths on a virtual machine providing an EFI bios, at least for Linux (efivars/efivarfs backends), either VirtualBox or qemu/libvirt.
