MacOS binary not loading #551

Overview

Running icloudpd-1.8.0-macos-amd64 shows “icloudpd-1.8.0-macos-amd64” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. dialog on start and stops the app.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Download app from Release section
  2. chmod +x icloudpd-1.8.0-macos-amd64
  3. Run in terminal

Expected Behavior

  • Show help info

Actual Behavior

  • Shows error dialog

Context

Running in M1 mac. Binary is amd64, so expected results may involve other dialogs for arm-intel bridging (if any)

removing binary until we have signing figured out for mac

Confirmed that binaries can be ran:

  • run binary and notice Apple error
  • in "System Preferences"/"Privacy & Security" find blocked binary and click "Always Allow" button
  • Apple will warn one more time on a next run, but then it works

Intel 64bit binaries work on M1 Macs too.
