jQuery dependance

In general I try to stay away from jQuery - is there a way to have transition.js not depend on jQuery? Or at least extract the parts of jQuery that it needs?

@ToBeJazz You need to implement jQuery in order to make this plugin work. Is there any specific reason to avoid jQuery?. Extracting parts of jQuery will be a tedious work.

No specific reason above trying to stay away from larger frameworks in general mostly because it seems an app gets slower from using them.
I can understand extract from jQuery is not something easy.
