Here is an example of what instructors receive via email to advise them of their upcoming teaching session. The part that we should change is the URL pointing the instructor to a course in Ilios. At least we could have included the session ID as well in the URL initially. What is really needed at this point in any case is to direct the instructor to the Event Detail screen where all the details, including learning materials and instructional information, is presented easily for the user. So we want to replace this "https://curriculum.ucsf.edu/courses/[course_id]" with something like this "https://curriculum.ucsf.edu/events/[event_link]".

sample event link: "U20210531O185735"
sample course_id: 1782

------------------ sample of teaching reminder contents below ------------

The learner groups participating in this session are: [Learner Groups here]
The learners participating in this session are: [Individual Learners]
The learning objectives listed for this session are: [list of session objectives]
The learning objectives listed for this course are: [list of course objectives]

For a complete review of the session details and its associated learning materials, visit the session details on your Ilios Calendar at https://curriculum.ucsf.edu/courses/[course_id].

If you would like to edit the details of this session and do not have editing rights in Ilios for this course please contact [contact info here].

well, i got pretty close on this. but ultimately, it's a can't-do.

what we are missing here is the context about the end-users current timezone. in the frontend, this context is given by the user's browser or operating system. on the server-side, we don't have that info.
so we cannot bring that frontend functionality into the backend - the backend-generated event-slug, and therefore the URL to the event, will be incorrect/broken, depending on teaching reminder recipient's current time-of-the-day and/or timezone.

so that's a nyet, sorry.
