NokogiriRust

Ruby FFI wrapper around scraper crate to be used instead of Nokogiri.

Status: proof of concept.

NokogiriRust::HTML.at_css.text is 60 times faster than Nokogiri. Of course, API of this library is not compatible with Nokogiri for now.

Installation

Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

gem 'nokogiri_rust'

And then execute:

$ bundle install

Or install it yourself as:

$ gem install nokogiri_rust

Usage

big_shopping_html = File.read(File.expand_path("benchmarks/big_shopping.html", __dir__))
selector = ".eIuuYe a, a.EI11Pd, a.AGVhpb, a.GyDBsd, a.VQN8fd, a.VZTCjd, a.REX1ub, a.sHaywe"
document = NokogiriRust::HTML.parse(big_shopping_html)
text = document.at_css(selector).text

puts text
# => "Roblox Game eCard [Digital Download]"

Development

After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run rake spec to run the tests. You can also run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.

To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.
