Ajax-endabled Email Verification System

The following form is, in most ways, a 'dummy' form. It will not submit to any server-side scripts. The purpose is to make an ajax enabled form
that quietly verifies an email address. Verification is a two step process. First, we check the email is properly formatted. Second, we call a
web service that pings the mail server and, if the ping is successful, it will then check is the mail box (i.e., the email address) exists.
