A setuptools package would give the incentive to do sudo pip install or sudo easy_install which is bad. I'm a big fan of maintaining a debian and an EPEL package.

Yeah it always felt dirty to me, that's why I've tagged it with question. This was two years ago though and there are a few other methods to install it now so I reckon it's okay to drop it.
